Summer is fast approaching! If you are looking for a party treat that children and adults will both enjoy, consider making some fun and unique ice cream floats! We’ll tell you the recipes and then you can set up shop! Make sure to have a station for ice cream, a station for the beverages, and then a station for the ever-important toppings. Having a variety of flavors of ice cream and sodas will definitely spice things up, and you’ll be surprised at what your guests can dream up. These ice cream float ideas add a special twist to the original ice cream float.
Caramel Apple Cider Float
You’ll need: ginger ale, apple cider, ice cream, and caramel sauce. Mix and match the amount of beverages, then top with whipping and caramel! This is a great drink to enjoy with friends and family during the warm Florida weather. Try 2-3 scoops of vanilla or caramel ice cream, then fill the glass with apple cider and ginger ale. You can add some salt if you like the salted caramel flavor.
Strawberry Rhubarb Float
You’ll need: ½ cup sugar, vanilla ice cream, 2 ½ cups of your favorite club soda, ½ lb. rhubarb stalks chopped, and ½ lb. of strawberries hulled and sliced (makes about 1.5 cups). First you’ll need to make the syrup: combine the strawberries, sugar, 2 tbs. water, and rhubarb in a sauce pan. Bring it to a boil then reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer this concoction for 10 minutes and mash up the fruit until its smooth (a potato masher works). To make the floats, use 2-3 scoops of ice cream, then pour the club soda and syrup together over the ice cream. You can top it off with some extra sliced strawberries for an extra kick of vitamins and nutrients!
The Old-Fashioned Float
You’ll need: 1 cup milk, ¾ cup chocolate syrup, chocolate ice cream, 4 cups carbonated water, and whipped cream. First you’ll want to put 3 tablespoons of chocolate syrup in each 16 oz. glass. Add ¼ cup milk and 1 cup of carbonated water and stir until the mixture is foamy. After that, add two scoops of ice cream to each class and top with whipped cream!
The Classic: Root Beer Float
Many of us haven’t had this since we were children, but it never hurts to be nostalgic! Bust out the root beer and vanilla ice cream, because it’s time to rewind time. If you want to add a twist, you can use different flavors of ice cream or frozen yogurt. One more thing: don’t forget the cherries!
